Credit Card Giant Mastercard Files Multiple Trademark Requests for Crypto-Related Services

Mastercard, the global payments company, has filed 15 new trademark applications linked to crypto, fintech, and metaverse-related technology.

According to renowned trademark lawyer Mike Kondoudis, the credit card giant’s petitions imply that it intends to develop an NFT-backed media, a payment processing, and e-commerce transaction system within the metaverse and a cryptocurrency asset marketplace.

As reported by Kondoudis, Mastercard’s petitions also include trademarks for downloadable multimedia files containing artwork, text, music, and video validated by NFTs and e-commerce software to allow electronic business transactions across the metaverse.

Furthermore, the corporation submitted applications for virtual credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards, as well as the ability to make payments in the metaverse using these digital cards.

Mastercard also registered trademarks for metaverse events and performances, as well as online communities relating to digital assets.
