Streaming and production giant Netflix will soon release a documentary series about the infamous Bitfinex hack.
The story will be about the theft of 119,756 (BTC), which was one of the biggest financial crimes of 2016. The documentary will be directed by American filmmaker Chris Smith with Nick Bilton as the co-executive producer.
The plot will focus on Ilya Lichtenstein and Heather Morgan, a New York City couple linked to the heist and laundering of the stolen money.
The couple apparently tried to hide the stolen funds by creating fake online identities and buying real gold, NFTs and more to avoid being caught by blockchain investigators. More details about the plot of the series will be provided by Netflix.
