Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, expressed his disapproval of the metaverse and Web 3.0 ecosystems, dismissing them as marketing gimmicks.

When questioned about his opinions on the metaverse ecosystem, Musk replied in an interview with The Babylon Bee, “I don’t see someone strapping a frickin’ screen to their face all day. And I’m not sure if I believe in this metaverse stuff, even if a lot of people tell me they do.”

Musk stated that he does not anticipate a future in which people would have to abandon the physical world to live in a virtual one while discussing the metaverse and virtual reality (VR). Sharing a personal experience, he added that the VR headsets tend to trigger motion sickness while playing video games:

“In the long term, a sophisticated Neuralink could put you fully into virtual reality. I don’t believe we’re on the verge of slipping into the metaverse; this simply sounds like a buzzword.”

Musk launched Neuralink, a neurotechnology business whose main goal is to implant brain implants in humans in order to restore and enhance physical skills using computers.
